A studio, not an agency

Tools that earn their place.

Apps, internal tools and AI tools, built to fit.

The person you talk to is the person building it. No handlers in the middle.

A direct relationship with the people making the thing. No account managers translating between you and the work. No six-week discovery phases. No decks about decks.

Those look similar on paper. They're not.

Most agencies

Bill for hours. Say yes. Ship the brief.

Magpie

Bill for outcomes. Say when it's wrong. Ship what works.

20%+

Increase in enquiries, inside a few months

Built a bespoke tool for a practice that had no system for managing them.

Before: no centralised tracking. The way enquiries came in meant even a spreadsheet would have created more admin than it saved. After: a branded, quick-to-use tool with reporting built in. For the first time, the practice could see where relationships were being built, and where they were quietly dropping.

50+ hrs

Saved per user, per year. On an ongoing basis.

Built a self-sustaining resource directory for a team that had been pulling it all together manually.

Curates automatically from a collection of sources on a schedule, with additional logic that keeps it current and useful. Users stopped doing the weekly scavenger hunt. The directory stays fresh without anyone tending to it.

Founders who want a product shipped. Teams with a tool that's holding them back. Operators with scar tissue from the last build.

Often in health, addiction recovery and the charity sector, but never only. If that sounds like a relief, we'll get on. If you need a 40-page procurement portal and a six-month gate-review process, Magpie isn't the right fit, and that's okay.

Magpie is founded by Jennifer Reich.

Years working inside teams that had outgrown their tools. Fixing other people's systems turned into building new ones. Magpie is what that looks like as a studio.

Why "Magpie"?

Magpies are among the cleverest birds in Britain. They're one of very few non-mammals to recognise themselves in a mirror, which scientists take as a sign of self-awareness.

They collect the best things, not every shiny thing. They build with what they find. They're adaptive, resourceful, and a little cheeky.

  1. 01

Help, or get out of the way. The work only matters if it makes someone's life better.

  2. 02

Ship it when it's right. Sit with it when it isn't. Knowing which is the whole job.

  3. 03

Evidence flips opinion. Commit hard. Change course faster.

  4. 04

The best idea wins. Ego doesn't.
